Answers to the questions we’re asked most often about repairs, parts, warranties and booking with FoneFix Honiton.
Everything you need to know before booking your phone or tablet repair with FoneFix Honiton.
No. You’re welcome to visit us without an appointment. However, booking in advance allows us to check availability and, where necessary, order the correct part ready for your repair.
Many common phone repairs can be completed the same day, with some taking around an hour. More complex repairs, tablets and repairs requiring specially ordered parts may take longer. We’ll advise you of the expected turnaround when you book or bring your device in.
Yes. Many screen, battery and charging repairs can be completed the same day, subject to parts availability and our workload. Booking ahead is recommended if you need your device back as quickly as possible.
We recommend providing your passcode so we can fully test your device before and after the repair. If you prefer not to provide it, we can still carry out many repairs, but our ability to test functions may be limited.
Normally, no. Most hardware repairs do not require your data to be erased. However, we always recommend backing up important data before any repair as data cannot be guaranteed.
We’ll explain what we have found and discuss the available options with you. Our standard £30 bench/diagnostic fee may still apply where a repair is declined, unsuccessful or the device is considered beyond economical repair, in accordance with our repair terms.
Clear information about the parts we use, the different quality options available and the warranty included with your repair.
Our warranty varies depending on the repair and part fitted. Premium and genuine screens include a lifetime warranty, while standard screens and batteries include a 6-month warranty. Most other replacement parts include a 12-month warranty. The warranty covers faults with the replacement part or workmanship, but does not cover accidental, physical or liquid damage.
Where available, we offer different screen grades to suit different requirements and budgets. Standard screens provide a good-quality, cost-effective repair. Premium screens offer improved display quality and performance closer to the original screen. Genuine options use manufacturer-original parts where available. The options available vary by device, and we’ll clearly show them when booking.
If you choose a Genuine screen, this is an original manufacturer screen, providing the same display quality, colours, brightness and touch performance intended for your device. Premium screens are high-quality alternatives designed to offer performance close to the original, while Standard screens provide a more cost-effective option and may have some differences in display quality, brightness or performance.
Yes, genuine parts are available for many Apple and Samsung repairs. We also offer carefully selected aftermarket alternatives where appropriate, allowing you to choose between different price and quality levels. The available options are clearly identified when you book or request a quote.
Yes. Our repair warranty covers faults with the replacement part and our workmanship, but does not cover subsequent accidental damage, impact damage, cracked or physically damaged parts, or liquid damage. Damage occurring after the repair may therefore invalidate the warranty for the affected part.
Contact us as soon as possible and we’ll arrange to inspect the device. If the problem is related to a replacement part or workmanship and falls within the applicable warranty, we’ll put it right in accordance with our warranty terms. Please don’t have the device opened or repaired elsewhere before contacting us, as this may affect your warranty.
What happens to your device and personal information while it’s with us for repair.
Yes. We treat your device and personal information with care and respect. We only access the areas of your device reasonably necessary to diagnose faults and test the repair. We do not access personal information unnecessarily.
No. We have no reason to browse through your photos, messages, emails or other personal content. Where access to the device is required, it is used only for diagnosis and testing relevant functions before and after the repair.
Yes, wherever possible we recommend making a current backup before any repair. Most hardware repairs do not affect your data, but electronic devices can fail unexpectedly and data can never be guaranteed. Important photos, contacts and other information should therefore be backed up before leaving your device with us.
You don’t normally need to remove your SIM card. In some cases we may need it installed to test functions such as mobile signal, calls or connectivity after the repair. If you prefer to remove it, that’s absolutely fine, although this may limit some of the testing we’re able to carry out.
Providing your screen lock or passcode allows us to properly test the device before and after repair. Depending on the repair, this can include the touchscreen, cameras, speakers, microphones, charging, connectivity and other functions. Your passcode is only used where necessary for diagnosis and testing.
Yes, in many cases we can still carry out the repair. However, without access to the device our testing will be limited, which may prevent us from identifying existing faults or fully confirming that all relevant functions are working correctly after the repair.
